Family Law Psychologist
Lilia Szarski is an experienced Family Law psychologist, specialising in Family Court reports, Family Dispute Resolution/mediation, separation and divorce consultations, counselling, therapy and parenting coordination in separated families. Her career highlights include holding positions of Manager, Director and Deputy Manager of the Mediation Service, (now called Child Dispute Services) in the Family Court of Australia in Melbourne, Adelaide and Dandenong. She clinically supervised a team of professionally trained Court mediators and Court psychologists, and appeared as an expert witness in many family law cases. Her career also includes assisting the Family Court of Australia’s Chief Justice’s committee to respond to Parliamentary Inquires into the operation of the Family Law Act.
She is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society, and the APS Family Law Interest Group (FLAG) a Member of the International Association of Family and Youth Courts, a member of the International Association of Family and Conciliation Courts USA/Australian Chapter, and the International Association of Applied Psychologists. She is an accredited Family Law Mediator and registered as Family Dispute Resolution Provider with the Attorney General’s Deptment.
She has presented at various conferences in Victoria, interstate and at international arenas including, International Family Law Conference Kings College London July 2016, AFCC in Vancouver, Family Law Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, National Mediation Conference in Perth, Melbourne, Gold Coast and many more. She has lectured at Deakin University in Forensic Psychology and at the Australian Catholic University in Behavioural Sciences. She is also an ambassador with the International People to People delegations in Family Law to South Africa, where she recently presented at the Family Law Conference in Cape Town South Africa, and provided training to the Family Mediation Association of Cape Town.
